~Three Things Thursday~

1. Thanks soooo much to everyone that responded to my plea for help yesterday regarding my sister's sore IT bands. I passed the info onto her and hopefully she can resolve the issue, especially in time for our race in 9 days!

2. Packing, packing, packing!! We are off to Wasa, BC tomorrow so it will be very quiet around here! I'll resume my sporadic posting once I'm back and by that time I will have a race report too! Well, I will have raced, the report itself might take awhile!

3. Speaking of racing, I have confirmed that Chariot pushing makes my non-Chariot runs much faster!! I still won't be reaching any sub-30 minute goals this race but I'm getting closer. I'm quite happy with how my speed is coming back and how much easier the runs feel when I'm not pushing Audrey!!

It's a bit early but I won't be around to say it so....

Happy Canada Day!!!

Help!!! Question for Runners!!

Ok this question is for my sister. She has been having problems with her IT bands when she runs. She started running last year but then quit when her IT bands started to bother her. She started up again a few months ago and is running her first race with me in 10 days but now her IT bands are acting up again!!

I need suggestions on what could be the cause and how to help her!! She really enjoys running but obviously running in pain isn't cool so we need to fix this.

She has been recently fitted for shoes so I don't think that's the problem. She runs 3-4x a week and only up to 5K. She does cross train- weights, spinning, TRX. She stretches and has been rolling the sh!it out of her IT bands. She is alternating ice and heat. She has also taken a couple days off to rest. What else?? What could it be? She obviously has a weakness somewhere.

Please help!!! My sister really enjoys running but is getting so discouraged by the pain.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Running and Sleeping

We keep having to miss our Sunday long runs with the clinic because of weddings, being out of town and races (less than 2 weeks till my 5K!). This means I have to make up my long run during the week, with A in tow.

Yesterday I packed her into the Chariot and we headed out. I swear there are times during the run when I think giving birth was easier! I don't know if it's just because I had an easy (but long) labour or maybe all those awesome hormones running through me helped me get through it but I sure wish I could get a dose of them during my runs!!

The schedule called for 9K and around 4.5K I wanted to bail. So tired and there are so many darn hills in this community! I just kept reminding myself how much faster I am going to be when I am NOT pushing Audrey! Hopefully that comes true at my 5K race!

As much as the rainy and dreary weather sucks, I have been enjoying running in cooler temps. We are going to Wasa, BC on Friday and I'm not looking forward to running in the heat. I guess I can suck it up for a couple runs though and enjoy the heat when I'm done. I heard the water is very cold so I'm not sure how much swimming we will be doing- maybe just running in to cool down after a hot run?

************

Audrey hit a big milestone last night- she slept through the night for the first time!! She went to bed later than usual since we had a shopping date with my BFF in the evening. I fed her and she went to sleep around 10:00pm. Around 2:30am she woke up and I gave her her soother (always try that before picking her up and feeding her in the night. She takes it about 1 out of 10 tries!). She went right back to sleep and didn't wake again until 6:30am when hubby brought her to our bed. I woke up a couple times between 2:30 and 6:30 since I was in pain from not having fed Audrey for a long time! She slept in our bed until 8:40am when I had to wake her up for her appointment. I'm sure she would have slept for another hour if I let her!

I'm sure this was all fluke and won't happen again for months but it's worth noting!!

~Audrey: 4 Months~

Look how much she has changed since 3 months!
And even more since 2 months!

Sleep- Haha what's that? This girl has done a complete 180 and now wakes up anywhere from 2-5x a night! The 4 month sleep regression is in full force at our house! I guess it could be worse, and the upside is that I get to snuggle my baby 2-5x a night. We are still swaddling her at night and most naps that occur in her crib. Naps have become a bit more challenging as she doesn't fall asleep just anywhere as easily as she did when she was wee. She is far too curious and would rather check the world out around her than sleep! Some naps she goes to sleep without a peep and other times she fights it like you wouldn't believe. We seem to have turned a corner and she is now sleeping for a good 2 hour nap in the late morning/early afternoon, and it's only about 1.5 hours after we have gotten up for the day! She must be tired after all of her night wake-ups... There are some days that she won't nap all afternoon so come bed time she is exhausted and grumpy! Little girl you need to learn to sleep better!

Eating- Audrey is a hungry hippo! She still eats every 2-3 hours during the day. She was having some long stretches between feeds at night (5-6 hours) but that seems to have changed and we are back to eating every 2-3 hours. Her occasional bottle feds are going well. Daddy had to watch her one day for 8 hours and she took her 3 bottles like a champ and barely fussed all day.

Tummy Time- She is getting way stronger on her tummy and only starts to cry after a couple minutes instead of the couple milliseconds a month ago! It still isn't her favourite thing though.

Milestones- Last month she started rolling but she really isn't that motivated to do it often. I'm not sure if it's because she dislikes being on her tummy or what but honestly I'm fine with that since it makes my life a bit easier knowing that when I put her down on her play mat in the living room she won't end up at the front door!!
Audrey has found her voice in the last couple of weeks. She will babble away in her crib, on the play mat, in your arms... She is also giggling more. She loves it when her daddy does chest presses with her, and crunches with her on his belly! I'm not sure if she's mocking him or what but she gets a real kick out of it!!

Playing- she enjoys being on her play mat and grabbing at all the toys now that she can actually get her arms to go where she wants them to. She tolerates her Bumbo for a short while but has started arching her back to get out. The Jolly Jumper is her new favourite thing. She loves to bounce and now she can do it on her own sorta.

Weight/Length/Clothes- Her 4 month Dr. appointment is this week and she hasn't been weighed since she was 11 weeks so I have no idea how much she weighs or how long she is. I'm going to guess around 14 pounds? I'll have to update in a couple days. Update as of June 26th- Audrey is 13lbs, 9oz and 25 inches.

Personality-  Audrey loves attention! She will fuss when left to play with herself (I have to go to the bathroom some time!) but as soon as you start talking to her and play with her she's happy again. She isn't very patient- wonder where that comes from ;) and doesn't' like to wait for anything. She's very social and so far hasn't played shy with anyone yet. I hope she never does!

Audrey's Favourite Things- Running with Mommy and Daddy in the Chariot of course! Ok I don't know that for sure since she can't talk but she rarely makes a peep so I take that as a good thing! She likes it when we sing to her and her new thing is blowing bubbles!

- Every day my love for her grows but I wish she would stay little forever!! She has really developed into a little person this past month and it's fun to see her feisty personality come through. It's an amazing adventure!

~Three Things Thursday~

1. A tad late for this...

Happy Father's Day to Audrey's Daddy!!

She really does have the best Daddy and I hope she appreciates him as much as I do!

Audrey and Daddy

Open your present Daddy!!

Shiny!!

What's inside??
More gardening stuff? Sweet!!
A book to read to me? Yay!!

2.  Running has been going well. Audrey and I made up our 7K long run that we missed on the weekend on Monday. It was tough and slow but we got'er done!! This 5k race is going to be a breeze! Yah right!! We missed Tuesdays clinic night since Audrey was having a rough day, Hubby was running late and we just needed a night at home. Yesterday's run was gorgeous- the sun was out and it wasn't too warm, there was a cool breeze to make it bare able. Hubby had to work late again so I pushed Audrey with the help of a great running buddy, K!! It was perfect because even though I was pushing extra weight, I didn't slow down because I had a break partway through. Audrey is such a great running buddy- barely makes a peep unless her hat falls over her eyes!

3. Another wedding this weekend! It's hubby's youngest brother's wedding reception (they got married last September). It's in town so thankfully I don't have to spend 3 days packing for 2 nights away!! I'm looking forward to more visiting and dancing!! Hubby has a great family!

~ A Beautiful Mountain Wedding~

Hubby's brother got married at Nakoda Lodge on the Lake this past weekend- same place we went to a wedding just before Audrey was born in February.

The weather forecast leading up to the weekend was not favourable for a Friday night BBQ and an outdoor ceremony on Saturday. With lots of positive thoughts, nature came through and gave us some beautiful weather for this outdoorsy couple.

It was so nice to visit with family and enjoy the mountains for the entire weekend. Audrey was showered with lots of attention and everyone adored her (can't blame them!).

Unfortunately having my hands full with baby meant I didn't get many pictures. Hubby was a Groomsman so I had to take care of Audrey by myself for a big chunk of the weekend. Luckily there were lots of willing people to hold her!!

~Three Things Thursday~

1. Audrey went to her first movie today!! We saw The Hunger Games which was awesome! She was pretty good and when she did fuss I didn't have to worry about people getting mad because everyone else had a baby too!

2. The wedding insanity is here! I'm super excited to see lots of family and celebrate my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's wedding. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates and we get to enjoy the gorgeous mountains rather than being holed up inside hiding from the rain.

3. We've been dodging some pretty nasty weather around here. The wind during last Sunday's LSD run was horrible. It took me the same amount of time to run 7K with a Chariot half the time as it did without it at all because the wind was that bad. Tuesday's run was hot and sweaty and I also had A in tow since hubby had to work late/get fitted for his tux. Wednesday's run was chilly. I'm going to have to do the next few LSD runs by myself since we are busy on Sunday mornings and can't make run club. My 5K race is in less than a month!! I'm excited and nervous all in one!

Another picture Mom?

Still a little small for the exersaucer...

~One Year Ago~

Mommy and Daddy's Little Wish Come True

And today...

15 weeks

Definitely our wish come true! I can't believe it's been a year since we saw those 2 pink lines! Every day I am thankful for our little girl!! She has enriched our lives beyond words and I can't imagine a day without her now.

~Three Things Thursday~

1. Had 2 great runs (4k & 3k) with the running group this week! It's nice to be pushed beyond my comfort zone. Speed is coming back (speed being a relative term!).  I also managed to dress properly!! It's June- you don't need long sleeves!! However I did have to rock the compression socks the other night- I forgot to shave my legs and I didn't want to scare everyone!

2. Swimming was an epic fail- only because Audrey fell asleep in the car. I follow the rule of "Never wake a sleeping baby!" and she was right out! Naps haven't been so great lately so I wasn't going to wake her and risk a super grumpy baby. I did try on her bathing suit the other day to make sure it fit and it's so cute!!

Checking out my tutu bathing suit!

Sleeping when I should be swimming!
(It was raining outside hence the rain cover)

3. Tonight is a baby-free night. We have a work Gala to attend for hubby's company. I'm excited but also anxious to leave my baby! I know she will be fine (hubby keeps telling me not to worry) but I can't really help it! I will try to enjoy myself and not check my phone every 5 minutes to see if I have a frantic text from Grandma!

Audrey's First Trip to the Zoo!

Last week we went to the Zoo with the moms and babies from our prenatal group. It only took a couple attempts for the weather to cooperate for us to go but it was worth the wait!!

Audrey slept for a good portion of the visit but really the trip was for the moms!!

Elephant

What Audrey did most of the visit...

Tiger

Gorilla

Colobus

Colobus

The hippos were a highlight for me since Audrey's nickname is Hippo. When she was only a couple weeks old I started calling her "Hungry Hippo" but now it's "Tired Hippo," "Grumpy Hippo," "Happy Hippo" etc.  So I thought these signs and the hippo exhibit was quite funny since really Audrey is nothing like a hippo!!

I laughed so hard at this- Audrey has peed on me a few times...

So cute!!

Some days it feels like A is eating 100lbs of milk!

Maybe A should push me in the Chariot...

Lazy hippos

Holy sh&* they are big!

I wouldn't want to mess with him!

Oh look- it's Sophie!! (the little plastic giraffe teething toy!)

We only had to wait in line for about 5 minutes to see the Penguins!! So exciting!!
Except A woke up as soon as we walked into the exhibit- probably because it was so cold!

Audrey wasn't so impressed with the penguins...

We got a picture of the 3 little girls that "met" in Prenatal class! It's fun seeing them grow up!!

All in all it was a great visit! Can't wait to go back soon!!

We Survived!

It takes a bit of organization to get out of the house at 8am with a baby! I thought it was hard before I had a baby but it's way harder now!! I think I woke up around 6am and couldn't go back to sleep since I was afraid I would sleep in and miss the run!!

I seem to have forgotten how to dress for runs- it was 15C and I wore capris and a long sleeve technical shirt. I was boiling by the first step! I checked the forecast the night before and it said 9C so I figured long sleeves would be a good idea. From now on I am bringing 2 shirt options so I can change if necessary before the run! Or maybe I will just look for my arm bands...

The great thing about Sunday's long slow run is that we do 10 and 1s. Diane and I decided that we would switch off pushing the Chariot at every walk break. That seemed to work well. Of course my first 10 minutes pushing the stroller was up a big long hill!! We made it though and I didn't die!

Pushing the Chariot is definitely a workout and we commented on how the 10 minutes we were running without the stroller felt like a "break"! That's the first time I've ever felt like that on a run!

Audrey was a great running partner and didn't make a sound the entire run. She slept for most of it but true to form, woke up the second we stopped moving. She was super happy and entertaining everyone with her cuteness!

I am so glad that I have such great running friends that are willing to help out so I can get out and run! It was a slow 7K but great none the less!!

Running Partner!

Liars!!

Pushing a running stroller is not easy!!! Holy eff!!

Yesterday I thought it would be a good idea to take Audrey for a spin in the Chariot since hubby is out partying it up this weekend at his brother's bachelor party so guess who gets to push her for her first long run in almost a year?? That would be me.

Downhills are great!! So much fun as the Chariot practically pulls you down the hill! Uphills? Not so much! I have to use both hands to PUSH the stroller up and when I reach the top of the tiniest hill I am breathing so hard I think my lungs and heart might jump out of my chest. Yes, I'm exaggerating a bit and considering that I overdressed majorly that didn't help me either!!

I had to stop once early on to give Audrey her soother but she fell asleep and if I wasn't so tired I would have run longer so she would stay sleeping!

We ran just over 3K doing 10 and 1s.

Before the run

After the run

And awake again once I stopped moving!
Tomorrow is going to be challenging in more ways than one! Wish me luck!!
