~Three Things Thursday~

1. It's a bit belated but hubby and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 26th!! Can't believe another year has gone by!! I love you more and more each day!

We're Married!!

My favourite photo of the girls

 2. Even if I am not getting my long runs in, I am getting my hills in!! 8 hills last night and I felt like puking a couple times! Probably the most frustrating thing about the run was a threesome and a stroller that would not move into single file so that runners could run past them! I understand not noticing the first couple runners, but at least 8 passed them going either direction and they just hogged the entire pathway!! When I passed them I yelled "Excuse Me!" and they weren't too impressed about that! Maybe next time they will share the pathway.

3. Now that the wedding is over, I have a long to-do list of things that I need to tackle. Namely, child care for when I return to work :( I so don't want to think about this but I know I have to since there seems to be a shortage in our city and the last thing I want it to be stuck come February. I want to cry thinking about going back to work but I know it's for the best for all of us. Just makes me appreciate every single day that I get to spend with my little girl!

~Audrey: 6 Months~

5 months
4 months

Sleep- My nemesis!! Naps are going quite well but night time is a gong.show! She wakes up anywhere from 3-6 times a night. This mama is exhausted!! I'm not ready to sleep train so until then I am a walking zombie. I am experimenting with her sleepwear to see if maybe she keeps waking up because she is too cold or too hot. I'm grasping at straws! I really hope her night time sleep starts to improve soon.

Eating- Well I said that I didn't want to start Audrey on solids until she was 6 months old but she had other ideas. She started showing a huge interest in our food at 5 months. She would reach for our plates at dinner time and I can no longer snack while she nurses because she gets distracted! We started with squash (since that's what we happened to be eating that night) and she LOVED it! She started crying because we couldn't get the food into her mouth quick enough!

I started her on rice cereal which she liked but it made her a bit constipated so I haven't been giving it to her as much. For purees, so far she has tried and liked: squash, watermelon, peaches, and carrots. She has tried and isn't too sure about: avocado and peas. We have also been giving her mum mums when we are eating out so that she can eat something. I was leaning towards doing Baby Led Weaning but since we started her earlier I figured purees would be better. I give her some bigger chunks of food occasionally (watermelon, cucumber, green pepper). Right now we are doing solids either once or twice a day- morning and sometimes evening.

Milestones- This has been a big month for milestones! Firstly, Audrey got her first tooth on August 6th! I noticed it when we were driving home from Peace River. A week later so got her 2nd tooth! I think she is working on her 3rd tooth now.

Audrey is sitting unassisted about 80% of the time. She still topples over a bit. She is starting to pull up on her knees and she scoots backwards. I can tell that crawling will be happening sooner rather than later!

Audrey is shrieking like a banshee!! It's pretty funny but also a bit deafening! She loves to babble away and tell us "stories."

Playing- She loves to put everything and anything into her mouth. She gets frustrated when bigger toys won't fit. She is getting good at playing by herself though which means mommy can have a few minutes to clean up or make herself some food. Sophie the giraffe is still a big hit and so are any crinkly toys.

Weight/Clothes- Audrey now weighs 15lbs, 5 oz. and is 25.75 inches long. She is in the 25-50th percentile (so has slowed down a bit). She is wearing 3-6 months clothes mostly.

Personality- Everyone comments on what a happy and well behaved baby Audrey is. She is very curious and a social butterfly!

Audrey's Current Favourite Things- food and her lovey, Piglet.

~My Best Friend's Wedding~

This past weekend my best friend tied the knot!

I was honoured to be one of her bridesmaids which meant I was up pretty early on Saturday to get my hair and makeup done. It was a pretty relaxing morning while we got ready. Hubby was solo parenting pretty much all day so that I could fulfill my bridesmaid duties.

The most beautiful and perfect little girl came into our lives!

Then...

AND

Now

I can't believe how fast the last half a year has flown by! Every day I am reminded how blessed I am to have such a sweet baby. She fills our lives with so much joy and I don't miss my pre-baby life at all. She is the perfect addition to our family.

Love you sweet Audrey!

~Three Things Thursday~

1. I am so thankfully for my amazing running buddies! They are always there to encourage me, push me and help with baby pushing! I did a stupid thing and signed up for the Harvest Half Marathon on September 29th (I barely snuck in- the race is now sold out!). My longest run to date is 11.5K. I am so behind in my training and even the short runs are tough. I know I can finish the race but I don't want a PW either! I have to miss my group long run this weekend due to the wedding but after that I will be there for every.single.run!!

2. I can't believe August is almost over! This summer has flown by. It has been so busy and full of wonderful events. I have thoroughly enjoyed being at home with my little girl so we can enjoy the sunshine and hot weather together. Our backyard has been our oasis for the last 3 months and we fully appreciate all of hubby's work to make it a great place to hang out.

What's this green pokey stuff?

Another picture Mom?

Love this little grin!

3. My best friend's wedding is in 2 days! It's hard to believe that 18 months ago she got engaged and now the day is only hours away! I am so excited to celebrate with them! The Stagette on the weekend was a blast! I was exhausted and slightly hungover on Sunday due to rolling into bed at 3am! Hubby did a great job parenting solo, minus the few puking episodes Audrey had from possibly eating too much before bedtime.

Here are a few pictures that are appropriate enough to share-

~Three Things Thursday~

1. Doing some blog surgery. I've always hated my blog layout and background. I've tried in the past to make it better but I'm techie-incompetent and always reverted back to the boring pink. I like the new background but I need to figure out how to fix the header so you can actually see the title and blurb. I also want to change the font. Trying to find time to change things while entertaining a 5.5 month old is close to impossible! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

2. Audrey got her first tooth last week! I felt it while we were driving home from Peace River (an 8 hour drive!). Guess that explains her crazy fussiness the previous week. And it turns out she's cutting tooth #2!

3. I have been so busy the last few weeks that I have missed about 2-3 long runs! Not good at all! I also missed 4 hills and when we did 5 hills I had such a busy day that I didn't eat enough so had no energy at all to run! Plus it was 30 degrees out so I ended up walk/running 3 hills. This week's 6 hills was much better. I was able to run all of them with some walk breaks at the top and bottom of each hill. Felt great! I also had a character-building long run on Sunday in Camrose. The schedule called for 14K but I knew that having missed the 12K and 10K the past two weeks there was no way I was doing 14K. I ended up doing 11.5K on another super hot day. I was under fuelled and running in unfamiliar territory so it was tough. Thankfully hubby was running along with me so I didn't end up on the side of the road crying my eyes out. Oh and I have to miss the 16K run this Sunday because I know there is no way I will be in any shape to run the morning after my friend's bachelorette party!! I plan to run solo later than  day- hoping to do 14-16K (schedule calls for 16K). This has been such a busy summer!!

Cowboy Gone Home

My heart is filled with sadness at the passing of my beloved Step-Father.

He was a very sick man for many years but he rarely let that get him down or in the way of what he wanted to do. He was an inspiration and I'm grateful to him for the many things he taught me over the years.

Knowing that he is at peace- no longer in pain- brings me comfort.

I will love you and miss you always!! I know you are watching over me!

XOXOXOXO
