~Baby N#2: 28 Weeks~

How big is Baby N?

I'm officially in the 3rd trimester and I sure feel like it! Baby is fully developed and will just be putting on fat now. Not too much fat now okay? His lungs are mature enough that he would likely survive if born now but he's going to stay in there for another 12+ weeks, right??

What I'm Wearing?
Currently my pjs since I'm sick with the flu! I already feel like I'm growing out of some of my maternity clothes that I'm sure fit me far longer last time. Pants are becoming uncomfortable. I miss the flowy skirts and dresses that I could wear in Phoenix. When I wear skirts and dresses at home now I have to wear tights which I am constantly pulling up!

Aversions or Cravings?
I don't  have an appetite at all right now due to the flu but baby keeps giving me kicks to let me know he's hungry!

How I'm feeling?
As well as one with the stomach flu can feel! I'm so glad I have such a great hubby that took over with Audrey last night since I was useless. Unfortunately he doesn't feel well now.

Lots of kicks. My mom and sister were feeling him move on the weekend. He's especially active in the evenings and after a meal.

Belly Button?
Still in.
It's getting harder to get comfortable but I'm still managing to sleep pretty well. I could always use more sleep though!

# 1-
Prenatal Yoga Class

I didn't have the energy or time to workout this week.

What I'm Excited for?
The weekend! This week has already been so crazy and it's not even half over.
Decorating the house for Christmas on the weekend.
Doing more Christmas baking with my lil' family.

What I Miss?
My first maternity leave.

Hearing the baby's heart beat (130) at our Midwife appointment last week. I'm measuring right on schedule. I now have to go every 2-3 weeks for appointments which blows my mind! How has this pregnancy gone so fast?

Baby Purchases & Projects?
We picked up some paint chips for the nursery on the weekend. Turns out hubby and I have different ideas on what to do in the nursery so this is not going to be as simple as I hoped! We brought home a bunch of chips and haven't looked at them since.

I've done a bit more research on items for the nursery but haven't actually bought anything more. We need to wait until the nursery colours are at least picked out! Just gathering ideas and filling my Pinterest board until after Christmas. I think what bothers me the most is that I want to work on the nursery yet I have to put it off until I have more time. It's one thing to put off a project that you don't want to do but it's another when you want to work on it!

Weekly Belly Pic

The belly definitely did some growing this week!

For comparison, here I am at 28 weeks with Audrey.

Funny thing- I almost wore this purple shirt for my belly picture this week!

~Delayed Weekend Recap~

I'm a day behind on posting this. I've come down with the stomach flu so not feeling so great right now.

The weekend started off a bit chaotic. When I left work on Friday, there were delays with the C-train so I couldn't get out of downtown on time. Usually that wouldn't be that big of a deal but Audrey and I had chiropractor appointments at 4:15pm so we didn't have time for delays! Thankfully I was able to push back our appointments by 30 minutes since I really needed to be adjusted. My hips and back have been a mess lately so I was much happier once I was "back" on track!

We didn't too much the rest of Friday night: laundry and put my tired feet up! I didn't even bother attempting a workout because I was far too tired.

Saturday morning we waited around for the Shaw technician to come check our internet. We've had many problems with it off and on for the last year or two and are at our wits end with what to do. Our Wi-Fi signal keeps dropping and we've upgraded our router and modem in the last year to try to help it. We also bumped up our internet usage amount in hopes that it would fix the problems- it did not.

Anyway, the technician of course came at the very end of the window he gave us but it seems as though he fixed the problem- he adjusted some wire splitter things in the basement so we aren't losing data. So fingers crossed this solves our problems and I don't lose my mind every night when I can't access the internet to check a simple recipe, do a blog post or some research.

Rant over!

Unfortunately waiting around for the technician didn't give us much time to run our errands before we had to be home for Audrey's nap. We went to the paint store to pick out paint chips for the nursery.

We went grocery shopping afterwards and went to the farmer's market to pick up a few things plus have some lunch. They have a few good food vendors there so I'm sure we will be back there for lunch or dinner again soon.

While Audrey and hubby napped, I did some cleaning, organized the basement as much as a pregnant woman can do (so not much) and cleaned out the nursery closet a bit more. We plan on switching around the configuration of the basement to fit in the big office desk and pull out couch to make the space usable so until we move stuff around down there I don't want to actually clear out the nursery. It's a two person job though and it's pretty rare that two people are free at the same time at our house so who knows when it will get done.

That night, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law came over for dinner. They offered to babysit for us and at first I turned them down since hubby already had plans with the boys that night but then I realized that I could use a few child-free hours to get some Christmas shopping done. Audrey adores them and they keep offering to babysit so they must like her too! I'm so grateful to have the extra help once and awhile since it really makes things easier. It's amazing how you can accomplish nothing with a toddler around!

I did a couple hours of power Christmas shopping and crossed off a few things from the lists. My feet were so sore after 2 hours so it's probably a good thing I only had a couple hours before the mall closed.

Sunday morning we baked dessert for Grandma's birthday. Audrey was very excited to help out!

Afterwards, we went to Costco. Spending all that money must have been exhausting since Audrey feel asleep on the 5 minute drive home! She didn't end up sleeping all that long so when she woke up we started our Christmas baking. We didn't get too much done before we had to leave for my sister's house for dinner to celebrate my Mom's birthday. It's a start though!

We had a great visit with my sister's family and my Mom. The guys watched the Grey Cup while the girls chatted. Sadly I didn't take any pictures!

With that, the weekend was over. I went to work on Monday feeling fine but slowly started to feel worse as the day went on. The stomach flu found me :( I left early to go home to bed. I'm starting to feel better now but hopefully I am completely better tomorrow as I have mountains of work to do.

~Phoenix Family Vacation November 2013~

Our escape from winter wonderland has come to an end :( Of course we were greeted back with a fresh dump of snow and some very chilly temperatures. We sure had to trade in those flip-flops in a hurry!

I'll recap the highlights so this doesn't get too long!

- We left cold and snowy Calgary on Wednesday, November 6th.We couldn't get a direct flight so we had to fly to Vancouver first, which was just over an hour long. Audrey was a trooper and wasn't too squirmy on our laps. Our 2nd flight was relatively uneventful, although being 3 hours long Audrey was getting antsy to move around a bit more.

Somebody was excited waiting for the plane!
- Almost every day we either had family or friends come over to visit or we went to someones house to visit or have dinner. While it was busy, it was still very relaxing.

- Hubby went golfing a couple times with his Dad. The community their house is in has 3 golf courses so it's a big part of the lifestyle down there.

- We did lots of swimming- either at our friends' pool or set up the kiddie pool in the backyard for Audrey. Audrey loved the water! It just goes to show how much the cold pool water at home affects her desire and comfort level in the water. She immediately started blowing bubbles, floated around on her tummy and played with the toys. She could have spent hours in there if we let her.

- We relaxed a lot! We always had to be home by 1pm for Audrey's nap so it was the perfect time to sit in the sun, read a book, have a drink and relax!
Relaxing in the sun and not drinking Angry Orchard
- We went to the local community centre for ice cream a couple times. Audrey is a fan! We also checked out the model train that runs a few days a week- Audrey was fascinated!
Best day of her life!

- My mother-in-law and I went for a manicure & pedicure. It was so nice to be pampered like that!

- We did some shopping. We went to a nearby outlet mall and I managed to find 2 pairs of Nine West boots for a smoking deal and a few clothes for Audrey and the baby. There weren't that many great deals but I had fun anyway. We also went to Kohl's and Target and found a few things for the baby.

- We went to a great Mexican restaurant for dinner one night. Audrey is a huge fan of re-fried beans!

She insisted on wearing lip gloss!

- We went for a few bike rides, and stopped to watch soft ball a few times.

- Hubby and I went out for a nice dinner at one of the golf courses, just the two of us. Of course, we didn't actually get a picture together.

View from our table on the patio

- We went to theWildlife Zoo. Audrey loved seeing all the different animals and feeding the giraffe!

Giant turtle!

- We celebrated Great Grandma's 80th birthday. We had a small gathering of family, ate yummy appetizers, bet on some horse races, and played some Poker- I was the dealer. Lots of fun!

Poker player in the making

Vacation Thoughts:

- Overall Audrey slept pretty well, especially compared to when we were here last year! Some mornings she woke up really early and some days she struggled with napping but I think the fresh air and lots of activity wore her out.

- I always overpack but I used almost everything I brought. The weather was forecasted to be cooler than it actually was (which was nice!) but that meant that a couple outfits I brought didn't get worn since it was too warm. I also didn't end up wearing my running shoes, my workout tops or using my straightening iron (I don't even know why I brought it!). Last time I ran a lot and I hoped to do some longer walks but my feet were so sore for most of the trip that a walk around the block was enough for me. I also realized later than hubby and I both brought carry on sized suitcases along with our big suitcases so that's probably why I felt like we had no extra room!

- We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We had lots of relaxation, plenty of visiting with friends, enough adventures to not be bored and lots of helping hands with Audrey.

Now it's back to reality and time to get ready for Christmas!!

~Baby N#2: 27 Weeks~

How big is Baby N?
Baby is getting smarter! Lots of brain activity and development.
This is the last week of the 2nd trimester! It's going by way too quickly! I'm so not ready!

I also noticed that the vegetable comparison from my 27 week update with Audrey was an eggplant.

Weight Gain?
Total 12 pounds. I'm actually surprised it's this low. I thought for sure I had gained a lot in the last month. I'm only weighing myself monthly (for my prenatal appointments) rather than weekly like I did last time.

To compare with Audrey, I was up 14 pounds at this point. How is it that I look & feel bigger but have gained less?

What I'm Wearing?
Back to the warm winter clothes. I do enjoy snuggling up in a warm sweater, boots and scarf so even though I miss the warm weather of Phoenix, I'm glad to have a more expansive wardrobe again!

Aversions or Cravings?
No, other than I seem to be hungry all the time!

How I'm feeling?
Overwhelmed is an understatement! I have so much to do between now and February that I'm seriously doubting if I will get half of it done. Work is insanely busy, major downside to going away, Christmas is getting closer and of course the nursery is pretty much untouched. I know the most important stuff will get done but I feel like I can't enjoy anything because I'm too busy trying to do everything.

(I don't mean to complain but I think it's important to note that feeling this way is probably normal and I don't want to pretend that everything is ok).

Baby hasn't been quite as active lately. He's probably hibernating from this cold like the rest of us! This week I did feel hiccups for the first time which is such a neat feeling. Funny enough, it was exactly this time with Audrey that I felt them too!

Belly Button?
Still in but I'm still predicting that it will pop this time around.

Now that I am home in my own bed, I'm sleeping much better. I also think it's due to exhaustion since I've only been getting 6 hours of sleep each night since we've been back. Thankfully I haven't been getting up more than once to pee. I've started using my wedge a little bit since I am starting to feel the strain of the big belly when lying down.

# 2
Tracy Anderson Pregnancy Project month 6 DVD- the leg section were tough!
Prenatal Yoga DVD

After missing 10 days of working out I can definitely tell that my fitness level has gone downhill! I also really need an adjustment since my hip mobility is not good at all so I've booked one for later this week. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things.

What I'm Excited for?
Hearing the baby's heartbeat today at our prenatal appointment.
Finally starting on the nursery.
Getting ready for Christmas.

What I Miss?
Having time to do anything! That's not really pregnancy related but I still miss it!
Baileys and Hot Chocolate- especially during this cold spell.

Our trip to Phoenix, even though the return home was a brutal blast of winter!
Audrey now says there is a baby in my tummy. She gives it kisses and then tells us to shhhh since baby is sleeping! Hopefully she will be that way when baby is actually here and sleeping!

Baby Purchases & Projects?
Baby got a few things this past week- some that I bought while in Phoenix and a couple that I just got around to ordering, so I haven't received them yet but it's nice to cross a couple things off my super long to-do/buy list!

I didn't find too many great deals while in the US (between the exchange rate and the higher tax rate) but I found a few things for the little guy. I actually didn't have room for them in my suitcase so Grandpa is bringing them back on the weekend.

Hubby insisted that he hadn't seen this brand of toys, Taggies, at home (because he shops soooo much) so we picked up a cute little lion toy for him.

Some Aden & Anais bamboo swaddle blankets. We loved and used these swaddle blankets all the time with Audrey and since they are the nursery colours I had to get them! Plus our other ones aren't Bamboo which makes them soooo soft.

Carseat canopy

I didn't have one of these with Audrey and I definitely wish that I did. I managed to get it free and only had to pay shipping.

This weekend we are going paint shopping- the room isn't even cleared out but choosing the colours will motivate us to get on this project! I did start organizing and cleaning out the closet (full of craft and office supplies, wrapping supplies, Christmas gifts and formal gowns!) so we are getting somewhere, if only at a snail's pace! At this point last time, the nursery was painted, and the decals were up. We are so behind!

During my organizing spree on Sunday, I went through some of the newborn stuff that we have for Audrey and found a few things that will work for the little guy- mostly neutral blankets, onesies, a few booties and socks. Now I have a better idea of the things that I still need to buy. I refuse to put this little guy in pink!

Pregnancy Rants?
A coworker commented on my 'waddling' yesterday. Why do people have to be so rude?

Weekly Belly Pic

We've been struggling with our internet at home so I was up late trying to edit and upload this bump photo. Why does something that should be so simple have to be so difficult?
