.:Leo: 3 Weeks:.

2 Weeks

Eating: He's still eating pretty well- every 3-4 hours. I'm trying to promote eating more during the day so he has his longer stretches of sleep at night rather than during the day. It's so hard to wake a sleeping baby though, seems so wrong!

Sleeping: He still sleeps quite a bit. He is having longer awake periods though- it's nice to see him looking around. He usually sleeps a little longer at night, 4 hour stretches before waking up to eat. He is mostly sleeping in the bassinet beside my bed. I will probably start feeding him in his room at night more now that hubby s back at work but I don't have any immediate plans toHe enjoys sleeping in the swing too.

Diapers: We are almost pros at changing boy diapers now! He is wearing newborn diapers still and likely will for at least a few more weeks.

His umbilical cord fell off at 15 days. It's nice to not have to worry about it anymore!

Weight/Size: He is definitely growing and filling out! He hasn't been weighed since last week so I'm not sure how much he has grown but he is filling out the newborn clothes a little better and his cheeks are getting rounder.

Hair and eyes: His hair is still light brown hair and his eyes are blue. They aren't as dark blue anymore. His eyebrows are super fair and while he has eyelashes, they are very blonde. Definitely fairer than his big sis!

Personality: He's still pretty chill, only getting upset when really dirty, hungry or cold or gassy. I'm hoping he has a laid back personality like his dad.

Likes: Cuddling, eating, listening to his sister talk to him.

Dislikes: Being hungry, cold, diaper changes and baths

My recovery: I started to feel much better and seems I pushed myself a bit too hard since I started to get mastitis. I had it quite badly when Audrey was 2 weeks old so I knew exactly what it was when I started to get the symptoms. I had some homeopathic remedies on hand from last time and rested all day long, which was the most important thing, so it hasn't gotten worse. Thank goodness for mother-in-laws who are able to come over and help out, since Audrey was also sick and couldn't go to the day home for a couple days and hubby went back to work this week.

I also drove for the first time at 2.5 weeks post c-section. I had to pick up Audrey's prescription and diapers. My mother-in-law stayed home with Audrey and Leo so it was pretty easy. I definitely don't think I am ready to make regular trips out of the house by myself, with one or two kids though. I still need to take it easier which is easier said than done with a newborn and toddler. Hubby is a massive help and we would be lost without him but he can't do everything.

Big Sister: Audrey turned 2 this week!! We celebrated her birthday the week before with my family and the day before with hubby's family which is good considering she was really sick on her birthday.
She is still loving her little brother and points out his tiny ears, nose, fingers and eyes.

First Date: Leo had his first date at 3 weeks old! Miss Delainey and her lovely mom Alison came to visit us (bearing coffee and presents- thank you!!!). It was so nice to visit with them both and see how much Delainey has grown! She is so happy and smiley! Leo was good and slept almost the whole time. Maybe next time he will interact a little more!

Thanks for the visit, Alison! It was nice to have an excuse to get out of my pjs and have some adult talk, even if it mostly was about our babies! ;) We will have to get out more once it warms up a bit more.

~Featuring the Bump~

I planned to put together this post during my time off before Leo came but obviously he had other plans coming early! So while it's a belated post, I am so thrilled with these photos that I have to share them.

We planned to do our maternity photos with Whitney one weekend in January, when I was almost 36 weeks. I emailed her the week before to confirm time and location and she said she had an opening for the next day, since she knew I wanted to have them done earlier rather than later. While it was super last minute (I'm not good with spontaneity!), we decided to go for it since the weather forecast for that weekend was looking much nicer than our later booked weekend.

We decided to do the shoot at the Calgary Zoo. It's hard at this time of the year since everything is pretty dead looking, it's cold out and we had a toddler to think about so the Zoo seemed like a great location.

Of course, Audrey fell asleep on the way to the Zoo so Hubby stayed in the car with her while I met up with Whitney to do the first portion of the shoot. The sun was shining, and it was about 5C outside- it seemed too perfect to be true for January!

Whitney took some pretty amazing shots. She even convinced me to let her shoot me from my less favourite side (I'm not the only one that has a preferred side, right?) and she got some stunning shots!

We were out for about 15-20 minutes when the wind started to pick up. Whitney looked at the sky and asked if it was supposed to snow. I hadn't seen anything in the forecast that indicated snow but anyone that lives in Calgary knows that the weather can change in about 5 minutes. Sure enough, it started raining- in January!! We quickly threw on our hoods and ran for some shelter! Didn't want the hair to get ruined!

We waited it out for a few minutes and then decided to dash to another covered spot to get some pictures- meanwhile it started snowing. The temperature dropped and I was pretty much freezing without my jacket on.

At this point we see Hubby battling the snow and wind, pushing Audrey in her stroller. Turns out his phone died so he decided to come find us. He wasn't dressed for this nasty weather either! We tried to take a few photos but we just looked too cold!

We decided to head to the Atrium which was our bad weather back up plan. Unfortunately, Whitney and I didn't notice the signs at the zoo entrance that said it was closed for a private function so we were out of luck!

Here is an "outtake" photo that Whitney took!! Love hubby's expression!! It was darn cold and windy out!

Whitney graciously offered to do a re-shoot the next weekend, our original session date, so we could get photos of the three of us. I'm so thankful that she was willing to do this since I would have been pretty bummed if we didn't get any photos of the two or three of us.

So the next weekend we met up again, on another beautiful sunny January morning. Whitney, once again, took some amazing shots that make me smile every time I look at them. I am just so happy with them- I wanted to frame them all!

Audrey was as cooperative as expected. It's so hard to get that girl to smile on camera but Whitney caught some cute smiles! It was a bit chilly outside for her so we didn't stay out too long.

We headed into the Atrium which was surprisingly busy. It's beautiful in there and I definitely can see why Whitney recommended the location. The lighting was stunning and it was so nice to see so much greenery and life while in the dead of winter.

Audrey was must happier inside, running around and exploring. She wasn't too interested in having her picture taken since there were so many things to see.

Once again, Whitney blew me away with her creativity and eye for spectacular shots. She just has a way of making you feel so comfortable and I totally trusted that she would take photos that I would LOVE!

~Happy 2!!~

Happy 2nd Birthday to my sweet little girl, Audrey.

It's hard to believe that two short years ago she joined our family and made us parents.  It feels like she has been a part of our lives forever! It has been an honour to watch her grow and I can't wait to see what the next year brings in the adventures of Audrey.

Love you baby girl!!

.:Leo: 2 Weeks:.

I can't believe Leo has been here for 2 weeks already and his due date was only yesterday! It's gone by so fast!

1 week

Eating: He's still eating pretty well- every 3-4 hours. So far he has only had one cluster feeding day/night but I'm sure there will be more in the near future. He sometimes gets a bit sleepy so I have to poke him to continue eating.

Sleeping: He still sleeps quite a bit. He pretty much wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep, with a small amount of awake time in between. He usually sleeps a little longer at night, 4 hour stretches before waking up to eat. He is mostly sleeping in the bassinet beside my bed. We did have one tough night this week but he wasn't interested in eating much- probably gas. Hoping the good sleep continuers past the 2 week honeymoon phase.

His newborn shoot was on Monday, at 10 days old. He was such a rockstar and slept through the whole thing! Whitney took some fabulous pictures and I can't wait to see them!

Diapers: We are getting better at changing boy diapers. Wash cloths are key! It's also important to learn to point the fire hose down. I learned this the hard way when twice he woke up unhappy in the night totally soaked, yet his diaper was dry. Oops!!

His umbilical cord is still on. I'm sure Audrey's had fallen off at this point and we've been trying to keep it super dry by limiting baths. I asked the MW today and she said csection babies seem to keep their umbilical cords longer but there doesn't seem to be a reason why. It's not really an issue, just annoying when changing diapers.

Weight/Size: He's still a little guy. Newborn clothes are a tad big so he should be in them for a few more weeks. Alison lent me a few preemie sleepers so those have been perfect! Thanks! At our midwife appointment today, he weighed 6.5lbs. He's up 9oz since birth and weighs the same amount as Audrey at birth. He's doing great!

Hair and eyes: No change- still light brown hair and dark blue eyes.

Personality: He's still pretty chill, only getting upset when really dirty, hungry or cold. Even then he doesn't cry that much! Let's hope this lasts!

Likes: Cuddles, eating, sleeping and pooping, the swing

Dislikes: Being cold, diaper changes and baths

My recovery: I'm feeling much better this week and have even gotten out of the house a few times. We went for a family walk that consisted of Audrey crying the whole time since she wanted to go in the stroller but she couldn't while Leo was in the bassinet. Her first real jealous moment since she hasn't wanted to be in the stroller forever.

Drowning in his moose snowsuit

I've really had to make an effort to not do too much since I am feeling better overall but I still need to take it easy. My incision doesn't hurt very often, but the area between my belly button and incision is pretty sensitive. I'm just taking Tylenol and Motrin a few times a day now instead of my rigid schedule from the first week.

My tummy has also gone down quite quickly. I still find maternity pants the most comfortable because of that sensitive part above my incision. I still can't bend down very easily to pull my boots on and off, squatting is much easier.

Big Sister: As I mentioned above, Audrey has only had one jealous moment. Usually she just loves Leo and doesn't get upset when I have to attend to him. We shall see what happens when she is home full time with just the two of us next month. I expected more jealous moments.

Hubby has been off work for the last 2 weeks which has been nice. He's been very helpful around the house and especially with Audrey. It's been nice just having the three of us during the day to spend time together before Audrey comes home from the day home. She is definitely higher maintenance of the two!

.:Leo's Due Date:.

Today is Leo's due date. Hard to believe he's 2 weeks old tomorrow!

Today also marks Audrey's due date, 2 years ago. I was still pregnant then and she baked for another 5 days before gracing us with her presence.

Hubby and I did a mini photo shoot and then made, from scratch, thai green curry.

Oh how so much can change in just 2 short years!
