~Three Things Thursday~

1. Clearly I am struggling with blogging! Finding the time is difficult and I don't feel as though I have  much to write about, other than my sweet babies! I also have been struggling to keep up with reading blogs. I'm around though.

2. I finally feel like I'm on track to get back into shape. So far it has been working well to get a workout in while Audrey naps in the afternoon. Sometimes Leo is sleeping or he's just content to watch me jumping around. I haven't felt a major urge to run but I think with the nice weather it's coming back. I did my first run post csection today- 20 minutes on the treadmill. I didn't die! It actually went a lot better than I thought.
I'm thinking of signing up for a 5k in July which will definitely get me back into my running shoes. It's funny how with Audrey I was just itching to get back running and this time I've been content doing yoga and Jillian Michaels' workouts.

Yoga is hard work for a baby!

3. Well, it's been 11 weeks and I finally feel as though we are coming out of the newborn plus toddler fog. We did make the decision to put Audrey back in the day home once a week, which has been great for both of us. She enjoys seeing her friends again and I get a 'Leo and mommy' day. It gives me the chance to meet with some mommy friends and run errands with just one babe in tow.

~Easter Weekend~

What a crazy weekend- snow and then beautiful sunny and warm! I was able to spend it with my loved ones so I don't care that the weather was tempermental!

On Good Friday we ran a few errands and went for sushi since I was having a big craving! It was delicious and even Audrey enjoyed it.

Saturday we went to the Farmers Market with Uncle D, for an Easter Egg Hunt. It was indoors (it had snowed the day before) and was super chaotic. I didn't get any photos and Audrey didn't get many eggs. We did get some groceries and had lunch there so it was still a nice outing. It was great to visit with Uncle D.

Lunch at the Farmers Market

On Sunday the Easter bunny came. Audrey was pretty excited to see what he brought and enjoyed the eggs he left behind.

After she found all the goodies, this mom went back to bed because she didn't get much sleep the night before! Hubby came to the rescue and took care of both babes so that I could get more sleep. He took them out grocery shopping too! Brave man!

We Skyped with Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandma in the early afternoon.

We went for a delicious turkey dinner at my sister's house. It was so nice to see my Aunt and Uncle and cousins as it had been awhile. It was a fun night, and delicious dinner.

Sadly I didn't take many photos the whole weekend. We did manage to get a decent family shot so I'm happy about that! I didn't even attempt to get one of Audrey and Leo :(

Happy Easter!!

~Mommy Win~

Tandem nap- I rock!!

Apparently beds are highly overrated!
Whatever- she's asleep! It only took 2 hours of playing and shenanigans.

Can't wait for bedtime, since I'm doing that solo tonight too!

I think this calls for a bottle glass of wine! ;)

~Weekend Recap~

I didn't think I had time to write this short post but I'm currently stuck to the rocking chair trying to put Leo to sleep so I found some time!

Friday night I went to yoga again in the evening. There was a sub so the class was more of a power yoga session than the previous week's yin session. While it was nice to have a bit more of a workout, I think I hurt my back doing so many sun salutations, especially with my weak core. Have to take it easy now.

Saturday we headed to Spruce Meadows for the Garden Show aka chase Audrey around everywhere! She had fun making a bird seed cake and carrying around balloons.

We didn't do too much the rest of the day- just hung out.

On Sunday we walked to the Farmers Market which is just down the road. The weather was so nice, although a bit cool. Happy to have the sun out though.

Again, we didn't do too much the rest of the day. Just chores, meal planning and grocery shopping. We Face Timed with 2 sets of Grandparents so that was nice. I did yoga while Audrey and hubby napped. Leo watched from his bouncy chair and then fell asleep.

Hubby made some delicious homemade pizza for dinner. He made lots so we will be enjoying it for lunch a few times this week.

After the babes went to bed, I enjoyed a nice glass of wine, some Girl Guide cookies and Downton Anney. I might never get back into shape but they were so good!

~Weekend Recap~

Oh look- it's Monday again! While we are sad to see Daddy go to work, Grandma W has been coming over to visit on Mondays so that makes the end of the weekend a little better.

Friday I went to my first yoga class since Leo was born! It felt amazing to get out of the house and do something just for me. It was 'yin' style so it was quite relaxing and just what I needed. I can't wait for next week!

Hubby had a 'fun' time putting the little ones to bed while I was gone. They both needed his attention at the same time; now he sees what I deal with on a daily basis! He manged through and both were asleep in bed when I got home.

Saturday was supposed to be spring-like so we went to the Zoo with a friend and her son, who is 4 months younger than Audrey. They had a blast together. We even ran into Whitney and her family! The Zoo was a busy place which was nice to see. The elephants are leaving in a couple weeks so I think that, along with the gorgeous weather is prompting a lot of visitors.
Bye bye elephants! :(

The snow leopard was actually out in the open!
Toddlers playing in the puddles.
Playground fun.
Holding hands.

Hubby and Audrey napped in the afternoon so Leo and I hung out. He also had a nap but I just watched Downton Abbey. Addicted!!

Sunday was a total lazy day which was fine with me! Hubby and Audrey went for a run in the morning. Leo and I stayed in bed until 9:30am! Hubby did the grocery shopping while I did Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred while Leo napped and Audrey had quiet time in her room since she refused to nap!

Leo turned two months old! Crazy!! He looks so big and not like a newborn anymore!! Wahhhhh!

Clearly I play the part of photographer these days! Must get hubby to take more pictures of me with the little ones.

We have a busy week coming up which I am looking forward to. I just hope the toddler cooperates! :)

.:Leo: Two Months:.

Six Weeks
One Month

Eating: Still eating like a champ every 2-4 hours during the day. He usually wakes a couples time at night to eat. I've been pumping a few times a week to build a freezer stash and he has successfully taken a bottle from Daddy several times.

Sleeping: Leo usually goes to sleep in his crib between 8-9pm each night. We have been following the EASY routine loosely ever since he was 4 weeks old. His wake ups vary- sometimes he wakes up at midnight and other times not until 2:30am. If the wake up is earlier than I will feed him in his room and put him back down in his crib. If it's later, I might bring him into bed with us. I often fall asleep in the chair while feeding him so sometimes it's easier to just bring him into bed. So far this is working for us and helps us get the maximum amount of sleep.
He's been sleeping in a sleep sack for the last few weeks also. He was always busting out of the swaddle and he likes his hands to be out especially while eating so he would wake up when I tried to re-swaddle him to put him down.
Naps are still anywhere- swing, bouncy chair, my arms, or car seat if we are out. He's napped a couple times in his crib but I'm not in a hurry to move them all into there. Since we are loosely following the EASY routine, he eats, has some sort of activity like a diaper change, watching Audrey play, sit with Mom, or hang out on his playmate or bouncy chair. Sometimes he falls asleep on his own and other times I need to rock him or put him in the swing. He seems to have a short nap soon after waking up in the morning, a longer nap around lunch time and another long nap in the early to middle of the afternoon and then a short nap around dinner time.

Diapers: Leo graduated to size 1 diapers around 7 weeks. He probably could have gone into them a week or so earlier but I wanted to finish up the newborn diapers that we had. As it is, we still have a dozen or so left since the poopsplosions were due to the too small diapers. I also started him in cloth diapers. I'm so glad I bought half gender neutral colours/patterns when I ordered them for Audrey. I stripped them using bleach (just the liners) but I think they still aren't absorbing as well as they should. I'm going to have to do some research since he needs to be changed every 2 hours or else he leaks. The inserts are soaked so I know it's not that they are too big. He's still wearing disposables at night and when we go out so that I don't have to worry about leaks or carrying around the bulky diapers.

Weight/Size: Leo's first appointment with the family doctor was at 7 weeks. He weighed 10lbs and 21.5 inches long. He went from the 5th percentile at birth to the 15th percentile at 7 weeks. Pretty good weight increase little man!
We had our 6 week discharge appointment with the Midwives at 8 weeks (were I bawled like a baby) and Leo was up to 10 lbs, 5 oz so he is definitely gaining! While I am happy he is doing well, he is growing too fast! Stay little for longer!
He has definitely outgrown his newborn clothes and even some shorter 0-3m clothes. It's usually the length that restricts him. With the cloth diapers, he is starting to outgrow some of the 0-3m sleepers also but that's more the Joe and Children's Place sleepers which I have always found smaller. This is the downside to cloth diapers.

Hair and eyes: His hair is filling in a bit more. It's still medium brown, with a small hint of red. His eyebrows are more prominent now, which makes for great facial expressions. His eyes are still a gorgeous blue.

Personality: He's such a content little boy. He is happy to look around and just check out what everyone around him is doing. He does get a bit upset if he can't see anyone. He has been having a fussy time some nights around bedtime but nothing unmanageable. He usually just needs extra cuddles.
He is a mama's boy! He turns whenever he hears me talk, especially when in someone else's arms. I'm sure it's because I'm his main source of food but for now I will take all the adoring looks I can get.

Nicknames: Little Man, Munchkin, Mr. Leo, Lovey

Likes: Cuddling, eating, his sister talk, looking around, his swing, the baby hawk, baths

Dislikes: His car seat (although it's getting better), dirty diapers, being hungry or cold, being tired.

My recovery: I finally feel physically more like myself. I definitely still have lots of core strengthening and overall toning to do but I don't feel nearly as much pain after little activity which is reassuring. I just listen to my body and slow down if I'm feeling a bit sore. I've started working out- doing yoga and Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred a few times a week which has done wonders for my mental health. I really struggled mentally for the last few weeks because I felt so drained, mostly due to a very energetic and defiant toddler. After a bit of research and discussions with some friends, I found some ways to help deal with her and understand her better so that each day isn't full of tantrums (her) and alcohol (me).
We are also getting out a few times each week so break up the monotony of each day, whether it's a walk around the block, a trip to the grocery store (where I might shop lift accidentally!), a morning at the library, or having people come over to visit with us. I'm still trying to find a program or activity to put Audrey into each week so she gets more of the interaction that she is used to from the day home. I definitely forgot how much of a change this would be for her so it makes sense that she is having a hard time adjusting to life with a baby brother and being home with Mom all day long.

Big Sister: While Audrey still loves her little brother, I think she has realized that he is here to stay. She has had a few moments of jealousy towards him- mostly around Daddy holding Leo, sharing the stroller and when both she and Leo are fussy she gets extra upset that he is getting attention.
She often asks where he is if one of us isn't holding him and when she wakes up from her nap. She likes to hold him and talk to him. If he is crying she was tell us and say "s'ok Leo."

She is by far more "work" than Leo is at this point. Our days revolve around her schedule and Leo just goes along for the ride. Sleep is still an issue- I feel like it always will be!

Misc: With the nice weather, we are finally able to get out and enjoy the outdoors more. I think that benefits us all and is a nice way to spend time together as a family.

So this week...

What a week! Glad it's Friday so we can spend the weekend with Daddy.

Here are some random things that happened this week that either left me laughing pretty hard or maybe crying.

~ I received a jury summons! Talk about horrible timing! Hopefully having a newborn that exclusively breastfeeds is a good enough reason for exemption!

~ We had our last midwife visit this week. Leo is doing great! It was very sad to say goodbye to our lovely midwives but they've made me promise to come by and visit. I can't believe the little man is 8 weeks old already.

Many expressions of Leo

~ We went to the library one morning. I tried to get Audrey into a program there but of course it was full. Instead we read a bunch of books, signed up for library cards for both kids and took a few books home. I think this will become a regular activity since Audrey quite enjoyed it and Leo just slept through it all.

~ This week I did yoga at home twice! One of the prenatal yoga DVDs that I have also as a post natal workout that I had never tried before. It seemed like a good way to ease myself back into working out. It was a bit challenging to fit it in- the first time it took 1.5 hours to do a half hour workout since Leo woke up during Audrey's nap and needed to be fed and cuddled before I could resume the workout. The next time, I did it while Leo napped and Audrey was awake, hoping that she would participate. She did to some degree. It wasn't very meditative but I still did it.

Toddler yoga... in PJs

He eventually fell asleep...

~ I signed up for a yoga class on Friday evenings. The timing should work well since Audrey will be in bed (fingers crossed) and Leo might need a few cuddles before going down for the night, which hubby can manage. I've very much looking forward to an hour of "me" time!

~ I also did a Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred workout. Overall it wasn't too difficult- I used 2 lbs weights (don't laugh!) and other than taking it easy on the ab sections and skipping the last round of abs, it was good! I did this during a miraculous tandem nap! I think I am going to continue doing this until I figure out the rest of my plan to get back into shape.

~ We had an eventful grocery shopping trip the other day where I almost shoplifted PJs for Audrey! I was at the self-checked out, and Leo was screaming his head off. I was having a frustrating experience with the scanner so between that and Leo being unhappy, I forgot I had the PJs hanging on the handle of the cart as I started to walk out. I was so busted! Thankfully I didn't get arrested! Haha!

~ I've started watching Downton Abbey on Netflix. Loving it so far!

~ Polka dots and wine. Yum!

Happy weekend all!!
