~Weekend Recap~

Happy "Leap Year" Day!

Love getting an extra day every 4 years! I remember getting a text from my Dad on February 23rd with him saying that if I was another week late I could have a leap year baby! I texted back saying that I was in labour already so that wasn't going to happen! A couple moms in my Mommy Group did have leap year babies so they are celebrating their first official birthday today, even if they are 4!

So my "weekend" actually started 5 days ago. I took Audrey's birthday off so that I could spend the day with her. I actually only worked 1 day last week because I was sick on Monday. It was a nice break from work but I am actually glad to be back!

Wednesday we celebrated Audrey's birthday so it was all about her! You can read more about what we did that day here.

Thursday we met up with my sister at the mall. She wasn't able to make the birthday party on the weekend due to my niece having ringette playoffs. She really wanted to give the kids their presents and spend some time with them.

It was such a gorgeous day out that I decided instead of running on the treadmill during Leo's nap, I would take the kids for a run in the Chariot when he woke up. They were heavy but it was so worth it to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and sun. It has been unseasonably warm here- I can't remember ever being able to run outside in capris and shorts in February!

We stopped at the park after the run!

Audrey got some new puzzles for her birthday and they both enjoy doing them together.

Friday we went to Costco. It was busy as usual but we survived!

In the afternoon it was beautiful again so we went for a bike ride/walk. Audrey didn't want to go at first but when I told her she could ride her bike she flew to the door!

That night I finished crafting for the party, while drinking wine and watching Suits. While on the edge of my seat!! The suspense!!

Saturday we ran a few errands while hubby worked on the laundry room counter project.

Change "craft supplies" with tools and this explains all my husband's DIY projects...

After dance class, while Leo napped, Audrey and I set out to make the birthday party cupcakes. She's a pretty good little helper!

Leo woke up just in time for the best part of baking- licking the spatula!

The boys did puzzles and Leo insisted on wearing a hat like Daddy!

Another wild Saturday night decorating for the party and catching up on The Good Wife!

Sunday mornings are for lining up cars in sun beams.

I did my long run in the late-morning. It was windy out (look at my hair!) but I had a great run!

In the afternoon, we had Audrey and Leo's birthday party! It was a blast celebrating with lots of family and friends. The kids had so much fun and it went by so quickly! I'll do a birthday recap later this week.

I spent the rest of the evening cleaning up and relaxing! Nice to put my feet up after being on them all day long!

~Friday Five~

Woohoo it's Friday!! Can't wait to have Hubby home all weekend long! :)

1. I bought these Traceless Elastics because I always get a big crease when I use an elastic or clip in my hair. I had heard great things about these Elastics so I figured I would try them out.

I put my hair up to do a 30 minute workout. You can still see a slight crease so I wouldn't say it's Traceless for my hair but I'm sure for someone with thicker hair it might not leave a line.

So I'm a bit disappointed but to be honest, I doubted they would actually work ok my hair since everything leaves a crease. They do hold my hair up really well and I like using them for making buns so not a total waste! My sister-in-law swears by them.

2. It's a bit ironic that I ripped my thumbnail trying to open Audrey's 'doctor's kit'. Blood everywhere- so painful and mostly annoying since I just had my nails done!

3. This kid knows all the characters! I'm not sure if I should be impressed or embarrassed!

4. Love you Taylor! This is so true- no matter if you are a famous singer or running your own small business. Now, please come back to Alberta so I can go see you in concert!

5. It's Friday- I'll drink to that! It was a rough 'one' day work week for me! #luckylady

Have a great weekend! Looking forward to the big birthday party!!

~Audrey's Special 4th Birthday~

Audrey's birthday was on a Wednesday, my usual work day. I really wanted to make her actual birthday special since she does share her birth month with her brother and we planned a joint birthday party for them. So I took the day off! Any excuse to have a whole day to spend alone with my sweet girl!

Audrey was so excited to turn 4!! She asked if it was her birthday yet for months! When she woke up in the morning she exclaimed "it's my birthday!!" as soon as she came out of her room!

She also insisted on getting dressed in her birthday party dress right away.

Her presents and balloons waiting for her

Leo was all over those balloons!

Opening her gifts

Daddy helping her put her necklace on

Tiara and new hair clips!!

Very excited about her princess balloon

I took a few photos of her all dressed up

Will smile for suckers!

When did she get so big??!!

She picked out the "Birthday medal"

Ready for our girls day!

We went for lunch and had birthday cake donuts!

Manicures!

We went to get her ears pierced. We were going to wait a couple years but she said she wanted them and was very excited so we went for it.

There were a few tears but the promise of a sucker helped.

We ran a few party errands and then it was time to pick up little brother.

She opened her gift from the dayhome- a doctor's kit which she loves!

We met Daddy for dinner at Brooklyn Pizza.

Doctor Audrey was giving free checkups

We had a little chocolate cake when we got back home

Leo enjoyed the cake too

It was a pretty great day with my big 4 year old girl! So special to be able to spend the day with her!
