~Audrey & Leo's Unicorn & Dinosaur Birthday Party~

Last weekend we hosted Audrey 5th and Leo's 3rd birthday party! Having birthdays only a couple weeks apart means that it's easiest for me and likely our guests to combine their party.

Audrey loves all things ponies and unicorns so she was thrilled with the unicorn theme! Leo is dinosaur obsessed so it was a no brainer!

I found a great joint invite on Etsy and contacted the seller to see if she could make a banner, and cupcake toppers as well. She was able to make it happen which really helped the theme come together.

I decided to run with the gold theme- I found some gold glitter decorations and glittery paper.

Front entrance alcove- Valetine's flowers going strong!

More glittery gold banners

A few hanging decorations

Happy Birthday Banner and Chalkboard sign made by hubby

A certain birthday boy photo bombing! Clearly not ready for the party yet in his pjs!

All ready to party with the balloons blown up!

Birthday boy and girl all ready in their birthday shirts! I had them made by a Canadian Etsy shop HappyHeartApparel  The seller was amazing to deal with since I requested Leo's shirt custom and a few modifications to Audrey's. Both kids were pretty pumped for their birthday shirts and I love that they can wear them again!

The food!

Rainbow cupcakes with buttercream icing

Gluten-free cupcakes for some of our guests

Unicorn and dinosaur sugar cookies

I saw these sour dinosaur candies and knew they would be perfect!

Baby Unicorn Puffs for our littlest guests

Rainbow fruit platter

Unicorn horns- like Muddy Buddies or Puppy Chow but better (in my opinion since I LOVE white chocolate!) To.die.for! I might have to make some more! Or not- since I will eat it all!

For activities for the kids, we had a "Decorate a Unicorn Horn" and "Decorate a Dinosaur Horn" station. I searched high and low for plain party hats for the kids to decorate.

As the guests arrived, the kids gravitated to the activity table. Lots of creative horns were made!

My super creative hubby made the 'Pin the horn' unicorn and dinosaur pictures.

'Pin the horn' on the dinosaur!

To thank our guests for coming to celebrate with us we made goodie bags- Unicorns for the girls and Dinosaurs for the boys, plus some stickers and dino candies.

Audrey and Leo had so much fun and we are so glad so many friends and family could join us to celebrate their big days!

~Weekend Recap~

See ya later last weekend of February! Fastest month ever!

We sure made the best of the weekend- it was jam packed with fun events!

Rewinding back to Thursday, the kids and I went to the mall to pick up a few birthday gifts for the upcoming parties on the weekend.

Afterwards, we went to the midwives for a baby checkup. Every time we go we have a tea party!

Baby is doing well and the kids love helping with the doppler and measuring mommy's belly.

Leo skipped his nap which makes for a long afternoon for me but he was in good spirits. We did some painting. I'm loving these paint pots Leo got for his birthday since the spillage is minimal! Thanks Brie!

I was able to read a few pages of my book while keeping an eye on them! ;)

Hubby was out late that night so I was pretty beat by the time the kids went to bed.

Friday morning we woke up to a five-year-old!! It's still hard to believe this sweet girl came into our lives 5 years ago!!

It was a snowy, stormy day (much like the night Audrey was born). I tried to convince the kids to go outside to play in the snow but they preferred to do crafts inside.

Stamping away- until he starts stamping his hand!

Audrey went to preschool and was pretty excited to bring cupcakes for her class!

Afterwards, we headed back to the midwife clinic for my prenatal workout. The kids love going there, especially for the workouts since they get to play with other kids and sometimes jump in to our workouts. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Audrey at the end!

We had cupcakes again after dinner!

She opened her presents after dinner.

We told her that we will take her to pick out a new big girl bike-- with pedals! She is pretty excited about that!

Saturday morning after Audrey's dance, we headed to Brie's for Sully's 3rd birthday party! She did a great job planning a dinosaur theme- which obviously my kids loved!

Leo was interested in this race track until he heard Brie's aunt reading stories. I think he asked her to read 5 more stories to him and the other kids!

Birthday boy!

Dinos and cupcakes are his favourite!

After the party we met hubby at the Apple store so I could upgrade my phone. Since he is the primary account holder he always has to come authorize my upgrades, which means we have to bring the kids along.

Luckily the Apple store has lots of entertainment for kids-- like iPhones with games on them and TVs with video games and movies playing!

Turns out that if you rip the demo iPhones out of the security wires a really LOUD alarm goes off! We learned that the hard way when the stroller tipped back and the iPhone Audrey was holding was ripped out of the security cord! Oops!

Leo missed his nap again but thankfully he went to bed without a fuss!

Sunday morning Audrey and I had a manicure-pedicure date to prepare for our upcoming vacation! She brought her own Hello Kitty nail polish for her toes and picked a purple colour for her nails. She said it was boring though!

Lucky girl even got a flower design on a couple nails!

Meanwhile the boys fixed stuff around the house and assembled furniture! Very productive!

And because one birthday party in a weekend wasn't enough, we headed to Westside Recreation centre for our daytime's son's 5th birthday! We swam/played in the pool for 1.5 hours and then partied for another 1.5 hours.

The kids and I had never been swimming at this pool before but we will definitely be back! It is super kid friendly, with a warm pool, water slide, small slide, wave pool and lazy river.

It took Audrey a bit to warm up to the water- she doesn't like getting splashed in the face. A lot of time she preferred to be in the smaller warm pool but she started venturing out to the bigger pool more.

Leo on the other hand is a total water baby-- you have to watch him like a hawk because he will wander off, going up and down the small slide, running into waves, etc. He did the big water slide with Daddy probably 8 times! Audrey didn't go once!

The party had lots of other kids from the dayhome so the kids had fun playing together. They were all a bit tired from the swimming though!

Anna made this amazing Monster Jam cake and it was as delicious as it looked!

We spent the rest of the evening relaxing at home. I was so tired- I ended up falling asleep with Leo in his bed!

We all had a lot of fun, although not quite enough sleep! It was an exciting month for birthdays but I'm glad we are down for awhile! I need a break from all the cupcakes and sugar!!

Now to get through the busiest week of the year at work and get ready for our vacation!
