.:Leo: 4 Years Old:.

Wow! My middle baby is 4! He has grown up so much this past year!

Dear Leo,

Four years old!! I can hardly believe it! It seems like only yesterday you were showing us who was boss, before you were even here! You have been such a joyful addition to our family-- always smiling, joking, such a chill boy. You do things in your own way which at times can be frustrating but they are right for you. You are the cuddliest boy and such a mama's boy. The littlest thing brings you so much excitement, which is a lesson for us all each day.

This year has been quite an adjustment for you as you went from the youngest to the middle; graduated from baby to big brother. You had a bit of a hard time sharing our attention but you are loving your brother more and more as he becomes more interactive. You play so well with your sister and I know that you are excited for the day that Henry can play more with you.

This year you developed a love for gymnastics and skiing. You love being outside, running around and digging in the dirt. You like helping us-- whether it's making meals in the kitchen, gardening or with Dad in the garage. You are such a social boy.

You started preschool this year and have thrived. A bit of a shy side comes out but you are learning so much and your teachers are happy with your progress. You are picking up French from your sister which is neat to see.

Leo, you are such a special boy! We love you soooooo much!!!

What you are like at 4:

Eating: Leo loves snacks, still! He is good at eating breakfast and lunch but dinner is a struggle. He does eat a fair amount so I don't worry about his lack of appetite at dinner. Overall he is a good eater.

He still seems to be sensitive to dairy and soy so we try to limit those in his diet, which is hard. He likes cheese and yogurt, even though he knows they make him scratchy.

Sleeping: Leo is a good sleeper. He has a Groclock so he knows not to get out of his room "until the sun is up." He no longer naps regularly but will occasionally fall asleep in the car. He recently started sharing his room with his big sister, in bunk beds. He loves having a companion all the time, even if sometimes they chat a little too much before going to sleep.

Potty Training Update: This is one area that took awhile for Leo to catch on to. I'm not sure if it's just his chill attitude or what. We tried potty training again at 3.5 years old, as required for preschool. He still had accidents quite a bit so needed a lot of reminding to go to the bathroom when he was doing an obvious potty dance. He still has the occasional accident now but is pretty much potty trained. He wears pull ups at night and hopefully we can get rid of them soon, even though they are still wet most mornings.

Weight/Size: He is about 32 lbs and 40 inches long. He wears size 4T, although the waist on a lot of pants are too big on him. He wears size 9/10 shoes.

Talking: He speaks very well. He is picking up French from Audrey which is neat to see. He loves numbers.

Personality: Leo is a happy kid, with a mischievous streak. He is so curious and gets into things. If you can't find him, he might be hiding behind the couch with the honey jar, or looking for chocolate chips in the pantry.

Teething: All 20 teeth are in! He has had a couple dentist check ups and cooperates fairly well. He likes brushing his teeth but we always have to help him.

Likes: Lego, Transformers, cars and dinosaurs are his favourite! He likes watching Transformers. He enjoys reading books but you have to be careful he doesn't rip them. He likes to colour and craft with his sister. He likes going for walks and playing in the backyard in the snow. Smashing his cars.

Dislikes: Being told no. Time outs. Not getting a snack when he wants one. Listening. Being gentle.

Misc: Leo is definitely left handed.

Happy Birthday Leo!
You are my best bud!
We love you lots!

xoxo,
Mommy, Daddy, Audrey & Henry
