~Last Weekend's Recap~

Yikes!! How is it my "Friday" already?? I have just been swamped between solo-parenting and work being insane! I had drafted this post and then completely forgot about it! Too much cuteness not to share even though it's late late late!
I am just loving these summer weekends! I can't believe how lucky I am to get 4 days off each week with my little ones! Dream come true!!
It was hard, but I managed to convince Alison and Delainey to meet up with us for a Menchies date on Thursday! ;) As you can tell, the kids hated it and would have much preferred to have liver and broccoli for lunch.

We remembered to take a mama- selfie! And it looks like neither of us know where to look Alison!

After much anticipation, our minivan has arrived!! I still can't believe I am the owner of a minivan...
It's so practical, loads of space and pretty fancy inside! It's not a sports car but it's perfect for children.

I guess I am officially a Mom... if the 2 children didn't already confirm that, the minivan definitely does!
Friday was such a beautiful day that we had to head to the Zoo! We came across this Princess...
some things are just not worth fighting over! I don't know how she wasn't melting in that dress!

Audrey sweetly asked for ice cream, it was hot and Leo was napping so I couldn't say no!

Hubby made some fish that he had caught the previous weekend. It was delicious!
We have enough fish to last us a couple years now!

Saturday we went on a lovely family bike through the neighboring communities. Leo was bored so he napped! We stopped at the Farmer's Market for lunch and coffee. Best way to spend a Saturday morning if you ask me!
In the afternoon I was spoiled with another spa visit- facial and pedicure this time!
I had a gift certificate from Christmas to use and figured some alone time between solo-parenting weekends was in order.

Audrey said I had "Elsa toes" when I got home.

I also stocked up on beverages... thanks to a few of you for giving me some ideas on what to buy! I don't know how I would have decided without your input!

Sunday morning hubby left for his work conference in San Diego. I am definitely kicking myself now for not going.

Clothes are optional when you have cute diapers!

Leo is obsessed with cars and trucks!

We decided to go to Ikea. I had a list of things that I needed to get but we never get around to going there. I was a bit afraid since Ikea is a gong show on the weekends but surprisingly it wasn't too bad.

We had lunch there which the kids loved! Despite the fact that somebody pitched a fit that she didn't get the pink plate!

That afternoon my good friend J came over to hang out with us! We had such a nice time catching up, making dinner together and playing with the kids! We always run out of time when we get together since we have so much to talk about!

So now it's Wednesday and hopefully my solo-parenting will end tonight! Hubby's flight was delayed so instead of getting home on Tuesday night, he should get home tonight. This conference is cursed! Last year he missed his flight home...

Now to enjoy a 5 day weekend and to forget about work!!

~Three Things Thursday: Questions Edition~

Ok it was fun asking you guys questions!! Here are a few more for you this week!

1) If you are runner, what is your dream race? If you aren't a runner, what's your favourite workout?

2) Do you have a favourite number? Why is it significant to you?

3) Favourite TV Series of all time?

I'll share my answers when you comment!

~ Music, Outfits, Parenting Adventures and More~

Happy Monday Tuesday!!! I know, who says that?? You would too if you spent 4 days solo-parenting Miss Sassy-pants and Mr. Scream-non-stop! Haha! True story!! Hubby went fishing in the Haida Gwaii for an extended long weekend. Thankfully my friend came over one night to help me empty some bottles of wine!

Ok, on to the randoms...

~ I'm going to see Janet Jackson in concert in September! My friend asked me if I wanted to go and I figured it would be a fun girls night! I haven't listened to her in ages- I'll have to dig up my CD!

~  Note to self- don't buy clothes for work right after having a baby, while on mat leave. Chances are they won't fit when you need to wear them (too big!) so that was a waste of money. I've had to get rid of some brand new tags still on clothes for this reason...

This dress would have been great for Stampede... if it fit.

I've become really picky in what I buy these days. If I have the least bit of hesitation, it doesn't come home with me anymore.

Some recent 'looks':

Can I get this dress in every colour and pattern please? So comfy!

I have a secret- this dress is huge on me but a blazer makes it wearable. I think it would be worth getting tailored, if I ever find the time to see one.

Canadian Tuxedo for Stampede! Normally I'm against this look but there is enough contrast between the denim shades that it works.

Another Stampede look- jean jacket and white dress.

~ I've been doing some purging and selling things on Kijiji and Buy/Sell groups. I kind of want to get rid of everything now! I like having less junk and more money in my pockets! So I can buy more clothes and junk... No, I'm done with junk. Travel money!!

~ We booked our trip to Phoenix in the fall. Since Audrey's passport expired this month I took her to get her passport photo done so we can renew it. What a joke! She was somewhat cooperative but mostly the photographer could not get the lighting figured out, either too bright or too dark so the background was no longer white. And you can bet Leo didn't sit patiently for 45 minutes during this whole ordeal. Hubby has been delegated the job now.

~ I know this is going to come as a huge surprise, but I'm having photo technical difficulties again, which is partially to explain why I haven't been blogging much (I wanted to post this yesterday...). I'm so ready to throw Photos into the garbage. Now Google+ isn't backing up my photos because apparently some other app is (?? probably iCloud/Photos situation) so to add photos when blogging I have to do it on my phone, then resize them on the computer. So pretty much it takes 3x as long to blog. Why must technology change so much and make a mess of everything? There must be a better way to back up your photos and still have them be accessible. If anyone has any suggestions, shoot them my way please! Can I hire an Apple expert to come to my house? I pay in wine.

~ So back to solo-parenting... it was tough- like grocery store meltdowns, sibling fights and many tears but we had some great moments!

This girl needs to work on her selfie game! I kind of adore this pout though!

We went for a walk/bike ride one afternoon and audrey insisted on 'off-roading'.

It was fun until she tipped over, Dolly went flying (she needs a seatbelt!) and she couldn't get her bike up.  She got her adventurousness from her father!!

And yes, those are socks with sandals... Pick your battles, especially when solo-parenting!

We spent a lot of time at the park.

Someone loves the park now that he can walk and explore it! His shirt says it all!! AWESOME!!

Impressive that we got a photo with all of us smiling!!

Kids made me breakfast one morning...

~ I just remembered- I'm going to the spa on Saturday! I'm finally using my gift certificate from Christmas and figured some pampering in between 2 rounds of solo-parenting will be much needed! So excited- my poor feet need some attention!

How was your weekend? What are your tips for surviving solo-parenting?

~Weekend Recap: Beach, Beer & Birthday~

Zoom- the weekend is over!

We took it easy this weekend since I was starting to go crazy with all of our over programming!

Thursday was a relaxing day at home. It was hot, hot, hot so we pulled out the pool and played in to beat the heat!

Leo's girlfriend came over to play! He enjoyed splashing her!

I approve of climbing ON the sandbox. Less messy this way! ;)

Too hot for clothes! When you are 17 months you can get away with that...
Leo attempted to push C in the stroller- he couldn't push her far!

Princess C!

Friday was another relatively quiet day.

My scene while attempting to get ready- no wonder it takes so long!!

When did this kid get so long??

Having fun at the grocery store- a lady gave them stickers!

We went to my in-laws for dinner since they just got back from Europe.

Saturday we headed to Auburn Bay to hang out at the beach with some friends. The kids had a blast- Leo has no fear of water and kept walking right in, despite the fact that he kept shivering!! I really had to keep my eye on him!!

Sandcastle building!

Eating sand...

That night we dropped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's for a sleepover. We had a quick nap before heading out to a Stampede Beergarita Party. The weather wasn't so great but we had fun! The food was delicious and I don't mind beer and tequila mixed together!!

Sunday we slept in and picked the kids up in the late morning. It was a chilly and windy day so our outdoor plans went out the window. Instead Cinderella cleaned the house... with ripped dress and bare feet. She wanted to mop... actually got mad when I said no at first.

We had my family over to celebrate my birthday (which is today). Hubby made a delicious steak dinner and had a S'mores cake! Sooo good!!

My children LOVE sweets- Leo tried to climb the wall to get to the cake. Audrey had her hand in it... Whose kids are these? Oh right, both their parents have crazy sweet tooths!

And yes, Leo is pantless. They literally fell off him... skinny boy problems. It was too hot for pants anyway...

I think he liked it?

Yup, definitely a fan...

Getting every last crumb!!

It was a perfect weekend! :)
