:Henry: 6 Months:

Eating: Henry still generally nurses every 2-3 hours, day and night. We have attempted to give him a bottle several times and he has zero interest. I think he is actually insulted by it. He also started on solids in the last week and he's a little suspicious of them too. He does like cucumber sticks and will tolerate some purees.

Sleeping: Sleep? What sleep?! It hasn't improved at all this last month, despite moving him to his own bedroom. He goes to bed around 6:30-7pm most nights and wakes up around 10-11pm to feed and then every 2 hours after that. He comes into our bed at some point in the night because I just can't get any sleep otherwise. After Christmas we will probably do some sort of sleep training but the issue is always teething or a cold or change in routine.

Naps are still pretty good. Most days he has a 1.5-2 hour morning nap in his crib. Depending on our day, he either has a couple cat naps in the afternoon in the car seat or carrier or if we are home he has another 1.5-2 hour nap. He's pretty much down to 2 naps a day, which makes our day a little easier but still hard to do much between all the naps.

Diapers: Size 3.

Weight/Size: Henry weighs 16.2 pounds and 26 inches long. He is still around the 23rd percentile for weight and similar for height. He seems big to me but I guess he isn't that big.

He is wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes mainly, but I have moved him into some 6-9/6-12 month clothes for variety. Size 2 Minimocs.

Hair and eyes: Still dark brown/black hair, and definitely hazel eyes. His hair is coming in thicker.

Personality: Henry is generally a happy boy, unless he is overtired or his teeth are bothering him. Everyone comments that he is such a chill baby and he is. He just takes in the world around him.

Nicknames: Baby Henry, Litte Man, Shnuggers

Likes: His toes-- discovered those recently and they instantly come up during diaper changes, his fists, all the chew toys, his activity centre, his siblings, mama.

Dislikes: Excessive carseat time, dirty diapers, not being able to move on his own yet, sleeping at night.

Milestones: Henry is trying so hard to move around! He is rolling a lot, and started doing push ups and planking. I think his 'lump baby' days are numbered. I just hope he stays still till after Christmas and the tree is away. He hasn't popped any new teeth yet but I'm sure that 3rd one is ready to cut any day now.

Mama: This month has been better, other than I'm in disbelief that Henry is half a year old already! How did that happen so fast?! This is a busy time of the year so I am really trying to slow down and only do the important things rather than take on a million things that don't matter as much. I am pretty tired so that also has me slowing down.

The Mommy & Baby Barre class has been so much fun-- I'm so glad I was able to do this with Henry and I'm going to miss it when it starts up again in the New Year. We will try to do some drop in but I suspect Henry will be mobile so he won't been keen to be in the carrier or lay still on the mat. Hopefully I can make some evening classes without him since I am really enjoying Barre

Big Sister & Big Brother: Audrey and Leo both adore their little brother, in their own ways. Seeing them together is my favourite thing and makes all the hard moments so worth it.

Misc: The past 6 months have been some of the best and hardest times of my life. Henry has brought so much joy to our lives, even if the work has increased exponentially. It's only going to get crazier as he starts to crawl but it's going to be so fun watching him too.

We love you, Henry!

  1. I loved 6-12 month age - they get to be so much fun and are so interactive!
I hope his sleeps gets better soon! Though I think most sleep "issues" are usually just phases! Or thats what I always told myself ;)
